Geography Bee

The students at Woodrow Wilson Middle School have the opportunity to participate in preliminary comptetition for the State Geography Bee. In every year that the "Geography Bee" has been in existence,Wilson Middle School has participated. Both 7th and 8th grade students are eligible for competition, and each year our school averages approximately 40-50 students who choose to participate. The winner of our school competition earns the right to take a 70 question exam prepared by the National Geographic Society of Washington, D.C. The scores are checked by National Geographic and the student and school are notified whether or not he/she may advance to the State Bee, usually held in early Spring at Suburban Chicago. Approximately 100 students from many different parts of Illinois participate in the Bee, with a state winner being determined after several rounds of competition.
