Peer Helpers/Peer Mediators
Advisors: Mrs. Danelle Lyon and Mrs. Patti Brorby
Peer Helpers: Peer Helpers is a group of students chosen by their fellow students because they have good listening skills and can be trusted with confidential issues. They attend a one-day training session to improve their communication skills and continue to practice these skills throughout the year. They also learn how to assist with logical problem solving and promote a positive, caring atmosphere at school. They are supervised and have bi-monthly meetings with Mrs. Lyon and Mrs. Brorby.
Peer Mediators: Peer Mediators is a group of students chosen by students and staff to attend training for conflict resolution skills. Peer Mediators help students who are having problems getting along with each other. As they assist parties toward a resolution ( win/win agreement), they follow a six-step format and are monitored by an adult. New Peer Mediators attend training in October. They will also have bi-monthly meeting with Mrs. Lyon and Mrs. Brorby.
Meetings: The Peer Helper/Peer Mediator meeting will take place in Mrs. Brorby's room (C208) at 7:30 a.m. on the following Wednesdays:
